Jeniffer Tembo arrived in Harare on Tuesday evening from her base in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of Zimbabwe’s upcoming international volleyball assignments.
The professional volleyball star, who was coached by the late legendary mentor Vulindlela Moyo, has risen through the ranks without featuring for a local club side.
Tembo was identified in 2019 while she was a student at Mpopoma High School before earning a move to Malawi.
After spending several years in Lilongwe, her impressive performances attracted interest from clubs in Rwanda, where she is now based as a full-time professional volleyball player.
Upon arrival at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Tembo was welcomed by Zimbabwe Volleyball Association administrator Sibusisiwe Dladla and the association’s vice-president Vengai Nyahunde before being taken into camp in Harare.
Zimbabwe is set to face Zambia in two international friendly matches in Lusaka this week as part of preparations for the regional qualifiers for the continental championships scheduled for June 8 to 14.
Tembo is expected to play a key role for the national team as Zimbabwe intensifies preparations for the regional competition.
