Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), Dr Innocent Matshe has reaffirmed that Zimbabwe’s economic doors are wide open to its global citizens stressing that the diaspora community is free to invest in the country.

Contributing during a high-level panel discussion at the ongoing Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference in Bulawayo, Dr Matshe declared that diaspora investors are not only welcome but are afforded the same rights and protections as any other investor.

Dr Matshe emphasised to delegates that the diaspora community is free to invest across all sectors of the economy, with robust policies in place to ensure the smooth repatriation of profits.

“I would like to say this, that the Reserve Bank has no issues about the disinvestments, dividend flows and any other profits that investors may want to remit,” he said..

He noted the existence of a clear and functional framework designed to facilitate capital movement.

“There is a structure in place. We have a capital in and capital out policy. So this is facilitated seamless.”

In a direct appeal to Zimbabweans abroad, Dr Matshe underscored the nation’s commitment to treating diaspora investors with parity and respect.

“So I want to emphasise that if diasporeans want to invest in this economy, they are free to do so. They will be considered as any other investor. So if they want to disinvest, if they want to repatriate their profits, they are free to do so.”

The declaration signals a strong institutional push to harness diaspora capital and expertise positioning Zimbabwe as an attractive destination for global Zimbabweans seeking to contribute to national development.
