Newly appointed Highlanders head coach Thabo Senong has promised to work tirelessly to uphold the club’s proud legacy while preparing the team to compete at the highest level in Zimbabwean football.
Speaking shortly after touching down in Bulawayo on Monday, Senong expressed excitement about joining the Bosso family and meeting both players and supporters.
“I’m happy to be part of the family. I’m looking forward to meet the players. I’m looking forward to meet the passionate fans,” he said.
Senong emphasised the work ahead and his commitment to learning from everyone involved at the club.
“Lots of work to be done. We’re just looking forward to protect the brand of the club and work hard every day. I’ve been very fortunate to be close with Mr Denzel, the CEO, and I’ve already been in touch with Coach Mkhokheli Dube. We’ve been talking a lot about the league because we’re not playing football in a vacuum. We’re playing against very good opponents,” he added.
He further outlined his approach, highlighting the need to understand both the squad and their rivals in order to strengthen the team.
“It’s a process, but we need to make sure that we work hard every day,” Senong said.
Senong, who has previously worked with South Africa’s senior and Under-20 national teams, as well as the Lesotho senior men’s national team, takes over Highlanders with a focus on tactical organisation, youth development and building a competitive squad.
Assistant coach Mkhokheli Dube, a former Bosso player, joins him to provide continuity and reinforce the club’s values within the team.
