HWANGE AND Zebra Revolution were on Saturday afternoon handed a seemingly easy draw in the first round of the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup for the Zifa Southern Region teams.
At the draw conducted in Bulawayo, log leaders Hwange, were paired with the winner of the Zimbabwe Saints and Mosi Rovers pairing.
Zebra Revolution on the other end were matched with the winner of the Khami United versus Njube Spurs tie.
Hwange and Zebra Revolution’s opponents are the recently promoted from Division Two sides with Zimbabwe Saints in the league following their acquisition of the Makwika United of Hwange’s franchise.
The organisers saw it fit to have a preliminary round so that winners of that stage will join the other 14 teams to make it a 16-team round that will culminate in the next stage, which is the quarter-finals.
The Filabusi debut pitting Jordan and Talen Vision could be the pick fixture of the first round with another potential humdinger between Blackrock and Casmyn.
Zifa Southern Region chairman Cris Mtungwazi and members of the executive presided over the draw which was conducted in a fair manner with delegates happy with the proceedings.
