Water woes: City fathers hold crisis meeting

concern among residents who accused the city authorities of being unconcerned about their plight.
Ms Josephine Mlambo of Budiriro 5 said: “It is better for the city council to put in place alternative water sources as the situation at hand is helpless.
“It has been a whole week without water and we wonder where the city officials think we are getting water from?”
Queues of people with various types of water containers are now a common feature in the high density suburbs.
Mr Brian Mafunhiya said: “We are now fetching water from our workplaces, but it is unfitting to move around the Central Business District with a water container, but we have no alternative but to swallow our pride.”
The hard hit areas are Budiriro, Mufakose, Glenview, Warren Park which get their water feed from the Lochinvar water reservoir.
There was a problem with the pump which supplies the reservoir, resulting in limited water supplies to the Western suburbs.
