Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial chairman Cde Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu has reaffirmed the ruling party’s commitment to transforming people’s lives.
Matabeleland South province is set for a major facelift as a number of infrastructure projects being spearheaded by the Government are progressing well and many of them are nearing completion.
The Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo College Home Economics block is reportedly 98 percent complete while at Gwanda State University, the project to construct Epoch Mine houses for student and staff accommodation has registered 58 percent progress.
So far six student blocks have been renovated.
An Engineering Laboratory and Innovation Complex, which is expected to spur mineral beneficiation and exploration initiatives as the country moves towards attaining a US$12 billion mining milestone by 2023, is under construction at the university.
Government is also constructing a new court complex in Gwanda.
Matabeleland South province leadership drawn from key Government departments and the Zanu-PF provincial executive members met in Gwanda last week to check on progress in implementing development projects in the province.
Cde Ndlovu took the opportunity to reaffirm the ruling party’s commitment to transforming people’s lives.
“We must deliver. The people in Matabeleland South are not difficult to deal with, we just have to deliver what they want. If there’s an electricity fault anywhere, let’s rush and fix it. If there’s a land dispute, let’s solve it,” said Cde Ndlovu.
He applauded various Government departments for putting their best foot forward and ensuring President Mnangagwa’s vision of an upper middle-income society by 2030 is achieved.
“As Zanu-PF we want to appreciate what you’re doing to help our people. Where you’re not doing anything, we’ll make sure that you do something,” said Cde Ndlovu.
Under the Second Republic, the Government has stepped up efforts to implement key development projects in the Matabeleland region in line with the devolution policy and Vision 2030.
Some of the notable key projects include Lake Gwayi-Shangani in Matabeleland North and Tuli-Manyange Dam as well as Beitbridge Border Post modernisation project, both in Matabeleland South.
Several irrigation schemes have been established in the region while many others have been rehabilitated to enhance food security and nutrition.
