The Government has intensified efforts to facilitate the safe return of Zimbabweans assembled at various centres in South Africa following a wave of xenophobic protests and vigilante attacks against African migrants.
The authorities are mobilising resources and engaging stakeholders to support the humanitarian operation.

President Mnangagwa has declared Ambassador Victor Matemadanda a national hero, describing him as a “war veteran who became part of the leadership of the association of our liberation veterans after independence”.
The message was conveyed to the family on Monday night by Politburo member Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.
Wednesday
Cabinet has approved the Zimbabwe Sugar Cane Industry Development Strategy that seeks to transform the country into one of the biggest producers of sugar cane and its by-products like ethanol by 2035.
The strategy is expected to position the sector as a critical driver of rural industrialisation, energy generation and export growth, supporting the country’s vision of becoming an upper middle-income economy.

An overwhelming majority of 75 against four votes saw the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 sail through Senate on Wednesday night.
Responding to debate on the Bill, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi said a record 55 senators contributed during the Second Reading, describing it as the highest level of participation in the history of the Senate.

Zimbabwe will continue to strengthen and expand mutually beneficial partnerships that support economic growth and sustainable development, President Mnangagwa has said.
Writing on microblogging site X after receiving credentials from incoming Russian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Sergei Berdnikov and United Nations Resident Coordinator Rosemary Kalapurakal at State House on Thursday, the President said Zimbabwe remained committed to fostering strategic partnerships that drive economic growth, investment and sustainable development.
