DeMbare will be seeking to retain the NetOne Charity Shield they won last year after beating the same opponents 4-2 in a penalty shootout. 
But the reigning Premiership kings have struggled to impress since the beginning of the year and are eager to see improvements before the start of the new season.
Muparati reckons time is no longer on their side as they only have one week before engaging in the competitive games for the year.
DeMbare will open their account this year with the Charity Shield and then plunge straight into the Champions League first round competition against Mozambique’s Liga Muculmana on the weekend of March 23-25.
Muparati who was one of the key players in DeMbare’s league and cup double success last year said the Glamour Boys should not be judged by their pre-season performances following a spate of bad results in recent weeks.
That barren run includes a 0-0 draw with Monomotapa and a 1-0 defeat by Gunners last weekend.
Muparati said they had now put all those games behind them and are now targeting the Charity Shield, which he believes will set the tone for their away assignment in Maputo.
“The weekend game is a good preparation for the Champions League so we should win to boost the morale of the team,” he said.
“Of late we haven’t been getting the goals, so we are working on that. We discussed everything as players and the technical team is always encouraging us. I just hope that starting with the Charity Shield match we should see a great improvement.”
Dynamos got a reality check at the weekend when they drew with Monomotapa and then lost to Gunners the following day.
While admitting that he is yet to rediscover the form that made him a darling at DeMbare last season, Mupa-rati expressed confidence that the team will come right with more game time.
DeMbare’s major worry has been their inefficiency in converting the chances they have been creating.
Muparati reckons that the Charity Shield provides the platform to inject life into this year’s campaign and expressed confidence in his teammates.
“We are not struggling as such. It’s still pre-season and we are trying to put things together. Some of the players are not used to playing with each other yet but, after losing that Bob ’88 Super Cup game to Hwange, I think we now all know what is expected from us. 
“Personally I think I haven’t been up to my best especially in the last two games. I feel I am still to get my form and I hope to raise the gear on Sunday,” said Muparati.
“It’s important to win trophies at Dynamos because the expectations are always high for such a big club. What is encouraging is that we are doing most of the things right and unfortunately it’s the scoring part that has been lacking. But I am confident that with more game time we will get it right,” said Muparati.
Apart from the pride of defending the title, there will be more to play for as sponsors NetOne have increased their package to US$250 000 this year.
Winners between Dynamos and Motor Action will pocket US$50 000 while the runners up get US$25 000.
Muparati urged the Dynamos fans to rally behind the team on Sunday.
DeMbare have no serious injury worries except their star midfielder Denver Mukamba who is not 100 percent fit because of a recurrent knee problem. Mukamba has, however, been training with the team.
