‘We’ll throw you out’

PARIS. — England will be kicked out of Euro 2016 if there is more violence ahead of any of the remainder of their games in France.

UEFA’s executive committee issued that threat to the FA, and similarly to their Russian counterparts, with both sets of fans due to congregate in Lille this week ahead of their second group games.

Russia play Slovakia in the northern French city tomorrow.

The following afternoon England meet Wales in Lens – but police advised both sets of British fans before the tournament to book accommodation in Lille due to a shortage of hotel rooms in Lens.

To defuse the chance of further outbreaks of violence, French authorities on Sunday pledged to ban the sale of alcohol within the vicinity of any of the Euro 2016 venues. However, after three nights of violent clashes in Marseilles between French police, local fans and Russian and English supporters, UEFA will not accept a repeat and issued a heavily worded statement on Sunday afternoon.

“The UEFA Executive Committee would like to express its disgust for the violent clashes which occurred in the city of Marseilles,” it said. “Such unacceptable behaviour by so-called supporters of the national teams of England and Russia has no place in football, a sport we must protect and defend. — The Daily Express.
