Wet spell to continue

H-Metro Reporter

THE Meteorological Services Department has issued a warning that heavy rainfall is expected to continue across the country until tomorrow, with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds remaining a risk.

Localised heavy falls of 30mm or more in 24 hours may occur, with the potential for crop losses requiring measures such as crop insurance.

Many areas have already had flooding issues due to poor drainage systems.

While farmers are enjoying the rainfall that will enable them to plant short-season crops, the public is advised to take precautions, including avoiding exposed areas during thunderstorms.
