SIMBA Bhora coach, Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu, is a man skating on thin ice if the clubs’ recent results are anything to go by.

Simba Bhora have not won in their last five games, losing three matches and managing two draws. Those two draws came against CAPS United, where they got a last-minute goal, and Triangle.

The Shamva-based side, who are in 10th place on the log with 21 points, last tasted victory at the beginning of May when they beat ZPC Kariba 2-1 at Wadzanai.

On Sunday, the 2024 champions were thrashed 0-3 by leaders Hardrock.

It was the manner in which Simba Bhora lost, which was particularly worrisome.

They never never showed any resistance, they looked off the pace and disjointed.

Even their usually dependable captain, Webster Tafa, had a poor game, gifting Hardrock with the opener after unsuccessfully trying a nutmeg in a dangerous position.

That summed up the team’s recent defensive frailties where they have now conceded eight goals in the last three matches.

“It is becoming very worrisome, “ Mpofu admitted.

“We came into the game against Hardrock very worried by our recent results and we were looking to get something but it is disappointing that we lost.”

Simba welcome Ngezi Platinum Stars at Wadzanai tomorrow and Mpofu knows he needs to turn things around.

The former Chicken Inn coach is aware of the consequences of a prolonged winless run.

He gave a run to a couple of the team’s young players such as Tapiwa Mandinyenya and Tavonga Kuleya, whom he believes can provide answers to the current challenges.

“We have some youngsters that we gave game time and they are looking good, it is still 18 matches to go and we will soldier on,” he said.
