Whawha in must-win game

PRISONS and correctional services side, Whawha, will need to dig deep into their bag of tricks tomorrow when they host fourth placed ZPC Munyati in a must-win match in the Zifa Central Soccer League.

Whawha will fall by the wayside in the promotional race should they fail to collect maximum points and log leaders Nichrut and second-placed Tongogara get three points. With the promotional race likely to be decided on the last day, the former Premiership side find themselves on the back foot, two points behind Nichrut and Tongogara, who are tied on 70 points with two games left.

However, Luke Petros-Jukulile, the Whawha coach, believes his side will respond to the call and get the desired result.

“We know what is at stake and we are up to it. The boys know what this match means and we have prepared well for it. All we want are maximum points and hopefully the other results will work in our favour,” said Petros-Jukulile.

His ZPC Munyati counterpart Isaac Nyabvure said they also wanted to win the game and will not do any favours.

“We are going there to play our normal game and for us every game that we play, we expect to come out with a positive result. We want the best team to win and for us if any team is to gain promotion, it should do that on merit, so we want to ensure fair play prevails,” said Nyabvure.

In other games, Nichrut, who have been ruthless in front of goal lately, face fifth-placed Ivan Hoe in another tricky encounter at Peak Mine Stadium while Tongogara are at home to ZRP Gwanda at Battlefields.
