At times, the issue lies not with the student but with the influences of their background.
There are clan spirits that can undermine any attempts at achieving success.
If we are honest, we all have origins, and at these origins there are clan spirits.
These spirits can explain why we progress at varying rates and times.
Fellow students, as we strive for academic freedom, we must combat the forces of this world as well as the ancestral spirits.
The spirits of our clan can undermine our aspirations, leading us to make choices contrary to our intentions.
When I mentioned that we left home to change homes, I meant to express that our goal is to improve our circumstances.
However, the clan spirits can hinder our progress and ensure that our home remains unchanged.
Some students put in a lot of effort, but they still find it challenging at times.
Some students study diligently, yet when they sit for the exam, they encounter blank spaces.
Others may even doze off during the exam, and some find themselves visiting the restroom far more frequently than usual.
There are those who leave portions of their answer sheets empty.
Fellow students, we have a huge war against the principalities of where we come from.
The spirits of the clan can hinder our aspirations, leading us to make choices contrary to our expectations.
This week, I am reflecting on the impact of these clan spirits.
A prayer can protect us from these forces.
The dynamics within a family greatly affect a student’s emotional state and academic performance.
From what I have seen, some students may choose not to take exams even when their fees are fully settled.
Also, some students experience confusion with their exam papers.
In other instances, students may become ill right before the exam.
Additionally, some students pass away prior to the exams, while others cannot complete them due to pregnancy.
When I share these occurrences, they may seem trivial and commonplace, but we must acknowledge that our backgrounds include many spirits that do not want us to excel as a family.
Many parents depend on their children to perform well in school with the hope of improving the family’s future.
Parents and guardians invest their resources and time to ensure their children have access to education.
Government and authorities have implemented policies to protect every child’s right to receive an education.
When conflicts or negative dynamics occur within a family, they can create stress for students, impacting their ability to concentrate, learn, and participate in academic pursuits.
Students might display various signs that indicate they are troubled by family issues.
These signs can include changes in behaviour, such as increased isolation from peers, a drop in academic performance, or emotional outbursts.
I have seen and I am still seeing it.
When a student struggles, it often isn’t that they lack intelligence, but rather they may be under spiritual attacks.
Based on my experiences, I have noted that we can be the architects of our own failures, and sometimes our parents contribute to these setbacks.
However, I have come to understand that the spiritual influences of our origins can also hinder our ability to reach our aspirations.
Students face backlash for their failures, but in my observation, certain spiritual forces play a significant role in holding them back.
Recently, an incident occurred where a student was unable to take an exam after the exam paper was inexplicably taken away by the wind.
Reports suggest that the examiners attempted to retrieve the paper, but they were unsuccessful.
In my mind, I viewed this as a manifestation of the spiritual forces at play in our backgrounds.
I am not a pastor, but allow me to frame this within a Christian context.
In many Christian contexts, spiritual warfare refers to the struggle against spiritual forces that oppose God’s purposes.
This concept is deeply rooted in biblical teachings, where figures like Satan are depicted as adversaries who seek to undermine faith and promote chaos.
For instance, New Testament scholars note that Jesus frequently addressed the existence of evil spirits and their influence over individuals (eg, Matthew 4:1-11).
Recognising spiritual realities can help students identify when they may be undergoing these attacks.
College life is frequently marked by significant pressures such as academic demands, social interactions, and the exploration of one’s identity.
These elements can contribute to mental health issues like anxiety and depression.
When viewed through the lens of spiritual warfare, students may perceive their challenges in a spiritual context.
Some students even exhibit manifestations while attending school.
Often, we have witnessed or encountered videos of students experiencing episodes where they roll on the ground, showcasing various spirits.
What causes a spirit to afflict a student who is merely trying to adapt to a new environment?
Such troubling situations have impacted students.
What remains unclear to me is the origin of these spirits and their intentions concerning innocent young individuals.
In this journey of pursuing academic success, students face a lot of challenges, some of them no one can share.
In your prayers, pray for the university students and help them fight the clan spirits.
Until we meet for a toast.
