WHO IS GOING TO BLINK FIRST?

ANOTHER week, another pair of wins for MWOS and Scottland and, with seven games to go, this fascinating duel for honours in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One is showing no signs of easing the drama.

Lloyd Mutasa versus Genesis Mangombe!

Mutasa has the advantage, with a seven-point advantage, but Scottland have a game in hand whose outcome will be decided in the boardroom.

MWOS are on 70 points while Scottland have 63 points.

Should the boardroom decision, from their abandoned league match against Karoi United, go in their favour, Mangombe’s men will move within four points of the leaders.

With 21 points still on offer, both coaches know nothing can be guaranteed and any slip could have some disastrous consequences for their teams.

Both were home yesterday and both teams scored two goals.

MWOS took control inside the first 23 minutes at Ngoni in Norton when goals from Tafadzwa George and Godfrey Manase fired them into a comfortable lead against Zambezi Gas and Coal.

Scottland’s hero was Cleopas Dube who scored twice, either side of half-time to guide them to a 2-1 with over Golden Eagles at the Heart Stadium.

The former Chegutu Pirates forward is proving to be a hit at Scottland and this was his third goal in the last two matches.

The fascinating race has attracted a lot of attention and there have been more fans at games featuring the two leading sides than those who are attending most of the domestic Premiership games.

Scottland, who were only formed at the start of the season, would probably have celebrated coming second as a success story for them in their maiden campaign in the league.

But, such is their ambition that they believe that success can only be measured by winning the league championship and playing in the Premiership next season.
