Why we should respect ‘The Dream’

a lot to change the sound of R&B.

He has been important in moulding his career and countless others which have been part of the pop and R&B music make up. The Dream has created songs like “Dope B”, “Falsetto” and “Rockin’ That Thang,” for the people that just want to hear and feel a dope song. He has been trendsetting throughout the decade and it doesn’t look like it will stop.

The Dream is also known for co-writing chart topping hits such as “Baby” for Justin Bieber, “Umbrella” for Rihanna, “Me Against the Music” for Britney Spears and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” for Beyoncé, as well as creating three solo albums called, “Love Hate”, “Love vs. Money”, and “Love King”. He has been in many cases under-rated and here are a couple reasons that may make you rethink before you just dismiss “The American Dream”  . . .  if you know what I mean.

“I’ve been producing and songwriting for so many years . . . since 1996. The things I write for B or Rihanna is what I do. If you say I can’t write music you have lost your mind. I’m severely underrated. They know what my girlfriend is before they know the 85 million songs I’ve wrote.”

It takes a “village” to create a smash hit. You need songwriters, engineers and producers, etc, to give it that magic it needs. The Dream has been in the background and it is interesting to see how someone that has thrived in the background to develop others has been also able to be a valuable artiste as well. Big up to artistes like The Dream and Ne-Yo for being able to balance both worlds.

The Dream is an artiste that has waved the R&B flag since he started. He has also taken upon himself to create his own sound that is totally unique to the R&B landscape but pays homage to artistes/producers such as Prince, Jam & Lewis and Teddy Riley. With work such as “Love Hate” (2007), “Love vs. Money” (2009) “Love King” (2010), “Terius Nash: 1977” (2012) and “IV Play” (2013), The Dream changed the sound.

He can be quite the fashion free spirit when it is time to change clothes and go. It doesn’t matter what the occasion is The Dream will definitely wear what he wants. He showed the world he was an individual when he hit the stage for the Grammy Awards.

A. Mariah Carey’s – “Touch My Body” is a song from Mariah’s eleventh studio album, “E=MC²” which came out in February 12, 2008. The Dream along with production and writing team Carey, along with Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, Crystal “Cri$tyle” Johnson helped to create this amazing hit.

It is also listed on The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time at 412.

D. Beyonce – “Single Ladies” (Put a Ring on It) is a song that had every lady and their momma dancing. This record is from her third studio album entitled, “I Am . . . Sasha Fierce” (2008). This song was inspired by her secret marriage to Jay-Z in April 2008 and would be an anthem for women battling against men’s unwillingness to commit.

E. J. Holiday’s – “Bed” reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was #1 on Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs for five weeks straight. Bed helped to make this album, “Back of My Lac” become nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 51st Grammy Awards.

Nivea and Christina Milian both know something about having a dream. He has been able to have these lovely ladies go crazy for him. Who will he be moving around with next?

The Dream knows exactly how to get people excited about music. He knows the right beat, melody, hook that will grab the audience and have the audience saying “They don’t need a hook for this”. – singersroom.
