Wi-Fi BOYS STING BOSSO Macheke strike silences Emagumeni

TelOne are on top at the break after Tawanda Macheke’s ninth-minute strike gave the Wifi Boys a 1-0 lead over Highlanders in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Barbourfields Stadium.

Macheke coolly slotted past returning skipper Ariel Sibanda in a one-on-one situation, punishing a moment of slack defending from Bosso.

The goal came just seconds after Washington Navaya nearly drew first blood, failing to connect with a teasing Macheke cross.

Highlanders tried to rally back, with youngster Prince Ndlovu blasting over when left unmarked outside the box, while Mason Mushore’s free kick was comfortably cleared away at the half-hour mark.

At the other end, Bosso’s backline was rattled again when Luckmore Mutumbi had to drag down Navaya as he threatened to break free, conceding a free kick that TelOne wasted.

Despite dominating possession late in the half, the home side’s poor decision-making in the final third left their fans frustrated, as the Wifi Boys carried a slender but deserved lead into the break.
