YOU are not the man!
A man from Zvishavane thoroughly assaulted his wife after she initiated sex.
Probably assuming that she gets sex tips from social platforms, he also smashed her phone against the wall.
The matter was heard when the man, Never Makwinja (39) appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Archy Wochiunga facing one count of assault, after he assaulted his wife Sylvia Choruhwa (41).
Choruhwa told the court that she had not had sex with her husband for more than eight months, as he was in the habit of assaulting her each time she demanded her conjugal rights.
The magistrate sentenced Makwinja to 30 days in prison, with an option of a $300 fine.
In passing the sentence, magistrate Wochiunga castigated Makwinja for his behaviour saying he was supposed to protect his wife instead of beating her.
“As a man, your duty is to protect your wife from any harm. Instead of protecting her, you decided to assault her for asking for sex which is her conjugal right,” he said.
Circumstances surrounding the matter are that on 18 October last year, Choruhwa woke up her husband as she to make love.
Makwinja told his wife that he was tired and not in the mood to make love.
A heated argument ensued between the two, which led Makwinja to assault the complainant, threatening to kill her.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Makwinja’s arrest.
