Wife demands $975k upkeep

A HARARE woman approached the court seeking an upward variation of maintenance from $275 000 to $975 000 citing the cost of living as well as treatment costs for the child.

Josephine Dube dragged her ex-husband, Samuel Dube, to court demanding an increase, which was granted by magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini.

“The young child is of ill-health and the money is for treatment. He is a premature baby and needs an occupation therapy every month. We have to pay $200 000.

“Rentals and electricity have increased so are the costs of basic commodities.

“The cost of medicine is expensive and I was suggesting he puts the child on medical aid to reduce the costs.”

However, Samuel did not appear in court, and magistrate Dhlamini granted Josephine the upward variation.
