Wife demands fair share of husband

Prosper Dembedza Court Reporter
A Harare woman last Thursday told the civil court that her husband’s second wife was in the habit of detaining their man at her house, thereby denying her an equal share of the husband and her conjugal rights. Angeline Muchero said Silvia Mashava the habit of coming to her house to verbally abuse her each time their husband visited her place.

She said, “I am sick and tired of being embarrassed by this woman because each time our husband visits my place of residence, she comes and causes violence at my house,” she said. Muchero told Harare Civil Court magistrate Mr Tafadzwa Muvhami that Muchero was denying her equal access to their husband. Muchero pleaded with Mr Muvhami to bar Mashava from visiting her place of residence.

Mashava said, “I dispute everything she said because they are all lies, but you can go ahead and grant her the peace order,” Mashava said. Mr Muvhami granted the order in Muchero’s favour, but he said he could not bar Mashava from visiting Muchero’s residence since they shared the same husband.
