A PUMULA East woman who had dragged her husband to court to force him to repay a $50 debt he owes her, was yesterday shocked after he revealed during the hearing that he has another wife whom he gave the money.
Cleostus Gwebu told magistrate Victor Mpofu that she gave her husband Andrew Muchawa $50 to buy a wardrobe from his friend but he disappeared and did not set foot at their home for four months.
She said although her husband later returned home, he was no longer providing for her hence she was demanding her money back.
“Your Worship, when I gave him the money he had told me that his friend was selling a wardrobe. I wanted to buy it because my clothes are in a suitcase,” said Gwebu.
When the magistrate asked Muchawa where he had taken the money, he said he had used it to maintain his child with another woman.
“I thought it was wrong for her to demand money from you as her husband because you said you still stay together, but in this case you have to give her back the money. How can you use her money to maintain your child without telling her?” asked Mpofu.
He then ordered Muchawa to pay back the money by Sunday.
Gwebu told the court that she was hearing it for the first time that her husband had a second wife who already had a child.
