Wife fleeing beating hubby jumps to death from third floor

A 44-YEAR-OLD man from Burombo Flats in Bulawayo has been arrested for murder after he allegedly killed his wife in a dispute over infidelity.

The deceased, Siphiwe Ndlovu fell from the third floor following a misunderstanding that she had with her husband, Meluleki Ndlovu.

Circumstances are that on 15 February 2025 at around 8pm, Meluleki was drunk and he had a misunderstanding with his wife over infidelity. He started assaulting his wife with slaps.

The door of the house was locked and the victim managed to get hold of the keys. While she was being assaulted, she stepped on a couch which was directly behind the window and jumped from the third floor. The victim fell down and landed on her stomach.

She sustained a fractured leg, swollen stomach and she bled from the nose and mouth. A neighbour who saw her falling from the third floor, rushed to the scene and took the keys that she was holding and unlocked the door for the suspect.

Meluleki ran to the victim, called an ambulance which took her to Mpilo Central Hospital and the matter was reported to the police.

The police visited the victim at the hospital and discovered that she had died and this led to the arrest of the culprit.

Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and urged couples to resolve their differences peacefully.

“It is disheartening that a life has been lost in such a way, we urge couples to solve their differences in an amicable manner.

“We also urge members of the public to desist from violence especially when one is under the influence of alcohol,” she said.
