A HARARE woman lost her bid to get a protection order against her husband, who she accused of physical abuse.

Lydia Maphosa claimed that her husband, Svinurai Maphosa, insults and assaults her each time they have a misunderstanding.

Presiding magistrate Tamara Chibindi dismissed the application.

“Your Worship, my husband doesn’t take care of our children. He has a girlfriend and he insults me whenever I ask him about the girlfriend.

“His girlfriend always comes to my house achindisvotesa kuti murume ndewedu tese,” said Lydia.

However, Svinurai disputed the claims and told the court that they are both his wives and there was no girlfriend.

“She is the one who follows me to my second wife’s house. I have never assaulted her, but she is the one, who at some point wanted to burn me inside the house.

“She talks to her ex-husband, vanenge vachitaura dzeyi if I may ask her,” he said.
