to her boyfriend who later crashed it in Siakobvu.
Shamiso Hether Wurayayi (34) and Lomona Jean Pierre Mabi (48), her boyfriend from the Democratic Republic of Congo, appeared before Chinhoyi Magistrate Mr Sam Chitumwa yesterday for making a false report. They were also charged with failing to make a police report within 24 hours of an accident.
They were remanded in custody to today for sentence after they pleaded guilty to the charges.
Police investigating the hijack became suspicious after noticing some inconsistencies in Wurayayi’s account.
She made a false report at Chinhoyi Central Police Station on November 6 claiming that she had been robbed of the vehicle at Dondo River Bridge by four men who forced her out of the road.
Prosecutor Mr Lovemore Balani told the court that Wurayayi was given the beige Toyota Fortuner company car by her husband Alec Kabichi to visit her ailing aunt at Mudhara Farm in Karoi.
On November 6 at around 7pm, Wurayayi gave the car to Mabi who drove it to Siakobvu the same night.
Mabi was involved in an accident near the 164km peg and abandoned the vehicle before contacting Wurayayi.
They then hatched a plan to make a false report to the police alleging a hijack.
