“The same difficulties are not understood by outsiders but under the leadership of President Mugabe and Zanu-PF, Zimbabwe has overcome those difficulties,” he said.
Cde Liu said CPC and the Chinese government will continue supporting Zimbabwe against meddling by Western powers.
China and Russia thwarted attempts by Britain and the United States to have Zimbabwe on the agenda of the UN Security Council where they hoped to invoke Chapter VII of the UN Charter as a prelude to launching a military invasion under the so-called responsibility to protect.
“The CPC and the Chinese government will always support Zimbabwe people in your efforts to defend your interests and national sovereignty,” he said.
“Developing countries such as Zimbabwe and China should step up their media co-operation. Only in this way will we have a strong voice in the international community so that the global audience will no longer receive distorted information on developing countries,” he said.

Acting President Nkomo commended China for its support to Zimbabwe.
“We never get tired of mentioning the friendship between Zimbabwe and China. We are Zimbabwe today because there are those who walked the difficult times with us.
“The friendship that was established during the time of the liberation struggle can be regarded as the construction of a bridge to cross to the other side.
“It is because of that bridge between Beijing and Harare that you are here and can reach to us and we can reach to you,” he said.
He said Zimbabwe appreciated China’s support at the UN and various international forums, adding Zimbabwe also supported the one China policy.
“As Zimbabwe, we are committed to the one China policy, you cannot achieve anything by disintegrating. Our strength lies in our unity and our weakness lies in our disintegration,” Acting President Nkomo said.
He told the Chinese delegation about preparations for the annual Zanu-PF People’s National Conference to be held in Bulawayo next month.
Acting President Nkomo said the conference will be an occasion to reflect on achievements in the past year, especially the indigenisation and economic empowerment drive.
Meanwhile, Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu said developing countries had to unite in fighting Western cultural imperialism.
Minister Shamu said this at a ceremony that was held to mark the 80th anniversary of Xinhua News Agency and the first anniversary of the installation of the giant digital screen in Harare’s First Street Mall.
He said Western nations dominated global media and used that dominance to spread their cultures to the detriment of local values.
Cde Liu and his delegation are in Zimbabwe at the invitation of Zanu-PF.
“Countries of the South have to unite in fighting the Western hegemonic interests in the world. Through their media and financial institutions, Western powers continue to dominate developing countries through their implied means of power,” he said.
Minister Shamu commended Xinhua for its role in cementing relations between Zimbabwe and China since 1980.
He said Zanu-PF was also keen to tap into the experiences of Xinhua as it also developed its publications that include The Voice and The Zimbabwe News magazine.
Minister Shamu urged Xinhua to erect other digital screens in other parts of the country.
Zanu-PF Politburo members have hailed relations between their party and CPC for promoting trade and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Earlier in the day, the delegation met Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo.
“We hope that in the near future, our two revolutionary parties will continue to establish mechanisms for our cadres to learn from you on party building and rejuvenation, human resource development, ideological training, mass mobilisation, information and communication management,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF was concerned with empowering the masses economically through indigenisation.
Zanu-PF secretary for administration Cde Didymus Mutasa said there was need for Zimbabwe and China to engage through high-level meetings.
“We want to increase exchanges between our youths, women and trade unions of the two parties.
“We have a number of economic projects that are being proposed between our parties in mining and agriculture,” he said.
Zanu-PF national political commissar Cde Shamu said Zanu-PF was mobilising to equip the party.
He said his party believed that imperialist forces could only be defeated by mass mobilisation, party organisation, party membership placed in structures and establishment of a party school.
Zanu-PF secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Rugare Gumbo described the global media’s biased coverage of Zimbabwe as a cause for concern.
He said Zanu-PF needed support from China to make the information department robust.
Cde Liu donated 50 desktop computers, 20 laptops, 20 printers, 100 copiers and 100 packs of copy paper to Zanu-PF.
