Will capitalism ever crumble?

market while workers lost their savings, jobs and their homes.
It has been reported that, at one USA university, students walked out of an economics class because it did not make sense to study the subject under the current world economic order which has brought elected governments down and ruined many lives.
But capitalism is not to blame. Experts are at one as to the cause of the current economic troubles. They say it was lack of regulation and supervision of capitalism by those charged with the power to monitor and put in place the law to prevent excesses either by management of corporations, banks, or financial markets.
In short, capitalism, if unregulated leads to greedy people manipulating the markets to their advantage. The human nature to accumulate wealth will not die at all. That is what sustains capitalism.
In our part of the world, there is no denying the fact people practice capitalism where they want to accumulate wealth for themselves and their families. The rise of trade unionism was to try to protect the interests of workers who are the driving force of capitalism.
If workers are paid a lot of money, they will become capitalists themselves, which would lead to them abandoning their jobs. But, technology has been a God send  solution for the capitalists to deal with trade unionists. Wealth can be accumulated by the use of machines while labour production methods can be done away with. This is why workers have been known to sabotage the production process to make them more relevant to the accumulation of wealth. The capitalists now control the election of politicians and formation of governments. Many politicians now depend on donations of wealthy business people who fund their campaigns.
This proves beyond doubt that capitalism will go on and on for the foreseeable future. But, the debate in economic forums is on how capitalism can be reformed. This has been brought forward by the debt crisis. The capitalists lend money to governments that wanted to stay in power without the necessary means to pay back the loans. Those that controlled industry in their countries were capitalists that could not produce enough goods to be exported to generate enough revenue or taxes that governments could use to pay back the loans let alone pay government expenditure like salaries for civil service employees.
The governments had to contend also with unemployment crises that have caused political and social unrest. The solution has been to cut government expenditure and entitlements for the pensioners, the poor and the unemployed. The question being asked is why the situation of economic deprivation was allowed to take root? Was it the fault of capitalism or the governments that were irresponsible to dine with greedy capitalists?
When one looks at the cultures of the world, people have always wanted to accumulate wealth not necessarily by being industrious but by using wars to acquire resources. Some used slavery even mentioned in the Bible to get rich. The modern way is to underpay workers to maximise profits or underhand dealings on the stock markets. Still it is another bad side of capitalism. Huge salary payments for bosses have also been blamed for causing the economic meltdown.
What has riled governments is the flight of capital from developing countries by externalisation of capital to the detriment of government programmes. But, it has been reported that the culprits are not just the capitalists but the politicians themselves who have shipped millions of dollars into foreign bank accounts while in office. It has been reported that at least 350 billion dollars from Africa is in foreign banks.
Another form of capitalism that has sprung up during this technological phase we are in, is the accumulation of wealth by those in the service sector, such as, doctors, lawyers, charismatic preachers or pastors etc.
This wealth creation is away from the norm of owning factories, supermarkets, shares etc. which has been given a bad name of getting  rich by exploitation. What has happened over the years is the entrance of the young entrepreneurs into business with new ideas of making money. In the African culture capitalism has  always been practiced. Some would accumulate wealth by owning a large head of cattle or by being more industrious through working the land. Capitalism will always be there to stay as long as the human race wants to better themselves and live not only a decent life but an opulent style of life.
One country in Europe, Sweden, has succeeded in sharing the wealth created by capitalists by taxing high income earners up to 60 percent of their earnings which brings enough revenue for the government to implement its social programmes. Should governments promote capitalism? The answer should be in the affirmative. Governments should empower individuals to become creators of capital which they can, in turn tax to provide social programmes for the disadvantaged.
The fear is that the budding capitalists will fund other parties. But, this fear should not hold down the spirit of the people to make money legally. What is required is to regulate effectively, the accumulation of wealth.
