While promoters are already screaming their lungs out about South Africa hip-hop superstar Cassper Nyovestas gigs in Harare and Bulawayo, doubts have been raised about whether the South African will honour the pledge to perform in both shows as they clash with a blockbuster gig in his native country. A
Nyovest is expected to make his third appearance in the City of Kings on 15 September where he will share the stage with local rapper Cal_Vin, whom he did a collaboration Zikhuphani remix with, house DJ Skaiva, Zimdancehallas Soul Jah Love and Freeman.
a?Cassper is coming to showcase his new album to the people of Bulawayo. He had a great time when he was last here and has always wanted to perform here again,a? said one of the showas promoters Babongile Sikhonjwa.
The following night, the rapper is set to headline the Impala Car Rental 10th anniversary celebrations at Glamis Arena in Harare.
While it is all systems go for promoters, one of Nyovestas right hand men revealed that the rapper had actually not yet made his decision on whether he would attend the shows.
On 16 September, Cassper is billed to perform at the Major League Gardens, an annual show that attracts thousands and will this year be headlined by the rapper and Nigerian star Davido.
Nyovest has been trumpeting the gig on his social media pages for weeks, and this is mainly because the show is organised by the Major League DJs.
The twins behind Major League Gardens are among Cassperas closest friends in the South African music industry, and are also expected to throw their weight behind his Fill Up FNB Stadium gig when theirs is done.
a?They (Cassper and management) were talking about perhaps using a private jet to travel from Johannesburg to Harare so it might be possible for the gig to happen,a? said Cassperas aide when the Harare gig was announced last week.
However, after the announcement of the Bulawayo show he changed tune, saying that Nyovest was not sure yet on his availability.
a?Theyare still planning on how to do this. Yes, we saw the Bulawayo show announcement.A However, nothing has been confirmed yet this side,a? he said.
