A woman allegedly stole over US$11 000 from a company and converted it for her personal use.

Esther Manunure (31) appeared at Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court on charges of theft of trust property. She is the sales manager at Varun Beverages in Bulawayo.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), between 10 and 19 September, Manunure was entrusted with company products for resale and tasked with collecting and remitting payments.

“It is alleged that she collected US$11,888 from clients but failed to remit the funds to the company, instead converting the money to her personal use. None of the money was recovered,” said the NPAZ.

Manunure was remanded to 1 October, granted bail of US$100, and ordered not to interfere with witnesses.

The NPAZ noted that the case highlights the importance of trust and accountability in corporate operations, as the justice system addresses allegations of financial misconduct.
