A BULAWAYO man was rushed to hospital after his wife locked him up in a room and called her brother to assault him. Nomsa Mombe connived with her brother Ndaba Nkomo, 41, to “instill respect and discipline” in her husband Msainwa Ncube, 43, who she accused of being irresponsible. Nkomo yesterday appeared before Western commonage magistrate Tancy Dube charged with physical abuse.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded out of custody to October 9. The court will use the time to compile Nkomo’s previous convictions as he is not a first offender.
“I have dealt with this man’s cases several times in this court. It is not his first time to commit a crime. First find his previous convictions and we will deal with the matter,” said magistrate Dube.
Nkomo agreed with the magistrate.
“I admit the charges levelled against me and I am ashamed of myself. It’s true, it’s not my first time to commit a crime,” he said.
Prosecuting Mufaro Mageza told the court that on a date unknown to the prosecutor, Ncube had a misunderstanding with his wife and she left the matrimonial home with household property to Emthunzini where Nkomo stays.
On September 13 at around 9AM, Ncube went to Nkomo’s house to ask for a 20 litre bucket. Upon arrival, Mombe locked him inside the house and called Nkomo who came and assaulted him. Nkomo assaulted Ncube with fists and kicked him on the head with booted feet.
“Mombe locked her husband in a room and called her brother, Ndaba Nkomo so that he bashes him. He sustained injuries and he was referred to hospital,” he said.
A medical report was produced in court as an exhibit.
