Woman, boyfriend in court for possessing unregistered gun

A woman and her boyfriend on Monday appeared at the Chitungwiza Magistrates Court for  possession of an unregistered fire arm. Agatha Thomas (20) and Prince Denga (25) appeared before magistrate Sheunesu Matova for contravening the Fire Arms Act.

They were remanded in custody to May 23 pending trial. Prosecutor Miss Nomsa Kangara, alleged that detectives were investigating a case of unlawful entry and armed robbery.

They arrested Alex Sabwe who had allegedly stolen a pistol and 300 bullets.

Sabwe was arrested on April 28 for allegedly committing several armed robberies in Chitungwiza and his case is still pending.

During interrogation Sabwe revealed that he left the pistol in the custody of his now ex-wife Thomas sometime in 2020 and fled to South Africa. When Thomas was arrested, she told the police she had given the pistol to Denga who was also arrested leading to the recovery of the pistol and five bullets at his home hidden on the roof wrapped in plastic.

Some of the stolen bullets are yet to be recovered.
