AN Epworth widow celebrated in court after her peace order application against her two sisters-in-law was granted.

Hlone Sibanda accused Rita and Edina Hodzi of physical and verbal abuse.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted her a peace order.

“After the death of my husband, his sisters took over rentals from their parents’ house and they are not giving me anything, yet I must have a share.

“They have gone for more than a year without giving me money.

“They once came to my place to assault me but, fortunately, I locked myself in my room,” said Hlone.

“We are not staying in harmony as they also destroyed my shop.

“I now fear for my life because I do not know why they are ganging up to harass me.”

In response, Rita and Edina disputed the allegations.

“I never insulted her. I am not aware that she is not enjoying her peace.

“I have never done anything bad to her because she uses my toilet and my well to fetch water, but from now onwards, I want her to stop using my toilet,” said Rita.

Edna added:

“We are neighbours and we have been respecting my brother’s family.”
