A Harare woman claims her husband is in the habit of pouring water on their bed whenever she denies him sex.

Charity Mukombe made the claims at the Harare Civil Court against her husband, Amos Chikuye, claiming his actions amounted to emotional abuse.

Charity also told the court that Amos sometimes comes home late, drunk and assaults her for denying him his conjugal rights.

Magistrate Meenal Narotum granted Charity’s application for a protection order.

“Amos comes home late demanding sex and if l refuse, he retaliates by pouring water on our bed.

“Sometimes he gets violent, destroys the property, tears my clothes and forces himself on me.

“Recently he even sold our kitchen unit and some of my clothes just to sponsor his drug and alcohol addiction,” said Charity.

She said she no longer feels safe around the man who was once her best friend.

“We used to be a loving couple but that all changed, all l am pleading with this court is protection because Amos might end up killing me,” she said.

Amos suspects his wife might be cheating on him.

He feels she should not deny him his conjugal rights merely because he comes home drunk when it has been his life

“I married this woman because l loved her, but she is now denying me my conjugal rights.

“No sane woman denies her husband sex, and if she is not doing this for her boyfriend,” said Amos.

Presiding over the hearing, magistrate Naratom refrained Amos from abusing Charity.
