A DRIVER has offered $10 000 maintenance per child for the upkeep of his three minor children.
Owen Murehwa was dragged to the Maintenance Court by his ex-wife, Charity Muchoro, who was claiming $300 000.
She told the court that the children need school fees, school uniforms, food and rentals.
“I need $300 000 so that I can pay rentals, school fees, uniforms and buy food for the children,” she said.
Responding to Muchoro’s claims, Murehwa said he can only pay $10 000 per child.
“I will pay $10 000 per child because I am not fully employed and I get paid on commission,” he said.
Muchoro rejected the offer saying it could not meet the children’s needs.
“It’s not enough for me to take care of the children. He is lying that he is not working because last week, he indicated that he was at work in Chiweshe,” she said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Murehwato $60 000 plus school fees.
She also ordered him to buy the children uniforms twice a year.
