Woman drinks poison after learning that husband married another wife

A Kwekwe woman downed poison in an attempt to end her life after learning that her husband had secretly married another woman.

The husband, identified as Forbes Degwa, a senior manager at a local company, reportedly paid lobola for his second wife without informing his first wife, Alice.

Forbes is said to have formalised his union with Angeline Zvikomborero Mujanja on December 14 last year. This shocking revelation left his first wife, Alice, distraught. Alice is receiving medical attention at Kwekwe Hospital following her attempt to consume poison on January 8.

The incident reportedly occurred at Alice’s home in Kwekwe. According to sources, Angeline, the second wife, boldly informed Alice about the payment of lobola for her. This disclosure allegedly triggered Alice’s drastic decision.

When contacted for comments by H-Metro, Forbes initially evaded questions and later disconnected the call after commenting:

“Who gave you this information? Can I call you back in 15 minutes?”

Angeline, when approached, denied any involvement in the situation. She said,

“I don’t know anyone or anything about what you are talking about. I wasn’t married on the date you are referring to. You can verify your claims with your source.”

A source close to the matter revealed, “Angeline was indeed married to Forbes on December 14 last year. She went on to inform the first wife, which led to the dramatic turn of events. Alice was so overwhelmed by the betrayal that she resorted to drastic measures.” (iharare.com)
