A HARARE woman was yesterday granted a protection order against her husband after she proved in court that he sexually abuses her.
Dadirai Mahlaza also told the court that her husband, Christopher Makandatsama, was also trying to forcibly evict her from their matrimonial home.
“My husband is positive to a chronic illness, but he still forces me to have unprotected sex.
“He wants to evict me from our home because he inherited it from his father, but we renovated it together,” she said.
Dadirai said she was tired of being embarrassed in her neighbourhood.
“He locks us out of the gate and embarrasses me in front of our neighbours.
“All I want right now is for us to share the property we bought together before we go our separate ways,” she said.
Christopher said he had no problem if the order was granted.
He, however, said he does not want Dadirai to return home with him.
“You may grant her wish Your Worship, but I don’t want to go back home to Eastview with her.
“I told her relatives that I no longer want this marriage, but they refuse to take her back.
“It will be fair if you grant me a protection order as well,” he said.
He was, however, disappointed as he failed to convince the magistrate to grant him a reciprocal order.
