Woman gets protection order against ex

Kundainashe Chimbi

Jane Katiyo took her ex-boyfriend, Crispen Chibvuma, to the Harare Civil Court, accusing him of insulting and assaulting her.

Katiyo applied for a protection order against Chibvuma and told the court that he abuses her regularly and was now threatening her current boyfriend.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the application to Katiyo.

“I broke up with him a few months ago, but he is now in the habit of coming to my place to beat me up and insult me using obscenities.

“The last time he came to my place, he damaged windows and my landlord told him to stay away from the house.

‘‘He then threatened to kill my landlord.

“He went to my boyfriend and threatened to deal with him. He also told him that I am his prostitute,” she said.

Chibvuma did not oppose the application.

“I do not oppose her application, but she is not telling the truth. I ended the relationship with her, and she is the one who came back to me. I do not go to her place,” he said.

Magistrate Chibindi ordered Chibvuma to stay away from Katiyo, and also advised her not to go back to him.
