A Harare woman left the courtroom all smiles after being granted a protection order against her former husband, who she also accused of assault.
Shumirai Mutare dragged her ex-husband, Osbert Simanje, to court for abusing and stalking her.
She said her ex-husband invades her privacy and abuses her physically.
“He assaults me every time we meet and I am now afraid of what he will do next.
“He has a habit of stalking me and invading my privacy. I no longer live in peace because of him,” she said.
Osbert told the court that he had no problem if his ex-wife was granted the order because he had never assaulted her.
“The last time I abused her physically was six years ago when she applied for a protection order. The problem is that she was not honest with her boyfriend about our process to reconcile until I found out.
“I do not have a problem with her and her boyfriend or taking care of my child.
“I do not have a problem with her being granted the application,” he told the court.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the protection order by consent and ordered Osbert not to insult or harass his former wife.
