A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was on Sunday run over by a car and died a few minutes later near Magamba Tollgate along Harare- Mutare Highway.Diana Bandura died upon admission at Mutare Provincial Hospital after a Nissan Sylphy which was being driven by Lamerk Sigauke of Ruwa hit her when she was crossing the road. The vehicle had two other passengers on board.
Meanwhile, a nine-year-old girl from Sakubva high-density suburb died instantly after she was hit by a speeding kombi when she was crossing the road last week.
Police said Takudzwa Valentine Sachikonye (41) of Chinyausunzi in Sakubva was driving a Toyota Hiace along Beit Road with no passengers on board when he ran over the girl.
“Upon approaching Sakubva Stadium, adjacent the flea market, he knocked down Makanaka Mucheni who was crossing the road. Mucheni died on the spot after sustaining severe multiple head injuries and fractured right leg,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa.
Her body was taken to Mutare Provincial Hospital mortuary. Witnesses said the kombi driver was speeding.
Investigations are in progress.
