A 46-YEAR-OLD woman has appeared in court for allegedly infecting her 14-year-old nephew with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) after she allegedly had sex with him on several occasions.
The woman appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate Mr Shepherd Mnjanja last week.
She was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 12 April for routine remand.
According to the State outline presented by Miss Melisa Dube, the woman was staying with the boy and her husband is based in South Africa.
The court heard that at the beginning of this month, the woman would seduce the boy by putting on revealing clothes.
While in the bathroom sometimes, she will intentionally ask the teenager to bring her soap and the boy would see her naked.
After that the boy asked to sleep with her and she agreed.
The matter came to light when the woman infected the boy with an STI. The boy sought medical attention at Mpilo Central Hospital and when nurses grilled him, he spilled the beans.
He revealed that they have been having sex at times with protection while at other occasions without protection. The nurse-in-charge at the hospital reported the matter to the police, leading the arrest of the woman. — Nohlelo Mlilo
