WHAT was meant to be a joyous occasion for a Tsholotsho woman turned into a tragedy when she fell gravely ill and died moments after being introduced to her new son-in-law.
Villagers at Zibungululu Village still cannot come to terms with the mysterious ailment that killed Eveline Ndlovu who a few hours before meeting her daughter Simangeleas future husband had been in a jovial mood with no signs of discomfort.
According to the deceasedas sister Laiza Ndlovu, the late woman was in sound health when she met her new son-in-law for the first time.
She fell ill after the visitors left her homestead.
a?She was fine when her daughter came. She invited relatives to see the son-in-law. But when they left we were surprised when we were called back as she was nose bleeding. She would excrete blood when going to the toilet. Itas still a mystery to us.
a?As a family we are yet to sit down and find a way forward. We are planning to consult a prophet because we find this very strange,a? Ndlovu said.
The sister said it could be the work of people who were jealous that Ndlovu had a son-in-law who would pay lobola.
a?Someone has a hand. They realised that my sister would get a lot of money from lobola and decided to kill her. She died in a very painful way,a? said she said.
Ndlovu was buried at her homestead last Friday.
Her family seeks to avenge for her as they feel that witchcraft was used to take away Ndlovuas life.
Effort to get a comment from Chief Tategulu hit a snag as his mobile phone was unreachable. .
