The mother of a four-year-old boy who was burnt to death after a fire broke in their rented room, is appealing for help to fix the house.
The heart-rending incident happened last week in Unit O, Chitungwiza.
She is renting the room that was destroyed by fire, and is willing to repair the damages but is constrained by lack of resources.
“I want to fix part of the house. It should be reconstructed as soon as possible,” she said.
“I am willing to reconstruct it, but funds do not allow me to do so. My landlady said l should construct the room. At the moment, l am staying in a room without a roof and it is paining me.
“For the room to be renovated it needs five asbestos sheets, a bag of cement for the floor and some nails for roofing.”
The fire started from an unattended candle which was left on a wooden table in the room where my child was sleeping.
The mother left the candle on as she went to check on a neighbour who owed her, and found the room burning on return.
Well-wishers can support her through Ecocash on 0773 344 552 (Oripa Mudzingwa) or 0782 547 990 (Ndakaitei Mudzingwa). She is also appealing for clothes, blankets and food.
The landlady, Mrs Patricia Chipazura, said she was keen to have the room repaired but does not have funds, and is seeking assistance from well-wishers.
