GOSSIPING over a neighbour’s alleged infidelity saw a Chikanga woman receiving a forced water-bath from the man’s enraged woman. Besides the water-bath, the woman descended on her with an avalanche of fists and also attacked her with a brick. Letwin Chinembiri (31) was hauled before Mutare magistrate Mrs Annie Ndiraya and pleaded guilty for assaulting Abigail Bukuta (39) causing injuries all over her body.
Mrs Ndiraya ordered Chinembiri to pay a fine of $100 or face 20 days imprisonment.
The court heard that on October 25, Chinembiri and Bukuta had a misunderstanding over a gossip that Bukuta was allegedly spreading about Chinembiri’s husband’s infidelity.
This argument became hot resulting in the accused person failing to control her emotions.
She assaulted the complainant with fists several times on the face and also used a brick to hit her on the head.
As if that was enough, she went on to pour a bucket full of water on her.
Bukuta sustained cuts and injuries all over her body. Mr Brian Bhosha prosecuted.
Asked why she had acted in such a disgraceful manner, Chinembiri, answered: “Your Worship, how could she come and tell me about my husband’s infidelity?
“Besides that she had stripped my skirt off and that is why I decided to teach her a lesson by pouring water on her.”
