Woman stabs hubby on the neck

A 41-year-old Makoni man narrowly escaped death after being stabbed with a knife by his wife during a domestic dispute.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident which occurred on Monday evening.

“The incident took place on August 6 at around at 2000 hours in Makoni District,” he said.

“Tendai Matinenga (41) of Chenge Village under Chief Makoni came home drunk and saw his wife Winnie Mhakwe (35) preparing supper in the kitchen hut and Matinenga ordered her to pack her belongings and go to her parents’ home since the two had a long-standing dispute.

“Mhakwe refused and started assaulting her husband several times in the face.

“Matinenga escaped from the kitchen before Mhakwe picked a vegetable knife and ran after him. She then stabbed him once on the neck and Matinenga sustained a deep in the process.”

Insp Kakohwa said on the following day at around 3am, Matinenga reported the matter to Rusape rural police and the police arrested the accused person.
