Woman takes husband’s deeds

A Budiriro woman claims her husband of 30 years wants to destroy their marriage by giving his new mistress title deeds to their matrimonial home.

Spiwe Mupandawana made the revelation at the Harare Civil Court where she accused her husband Mudiwa Mupandawana of physical abuse.

She said she gave her son the documents for safe keeping for fear of being dumped and left homeless.

This has created endless verbal and physical abuse in their relationship.

“I took the title deeds and gave them to our son.

“My husband recently married another woman and I am afraid he will transfer the property to her.

“I am sure of this because he has been giving his new wife all the proceeds from our farm,” said Spiwe.

Spiwe said she lost her sense of hearing due to her husband’s assaults.

“On one of the occasions, he used an iron bar to assault me.

“I went on to lose my sense of hearing due to his beatings,” she said.

Mudiwa argued that he is not an abusive husband.

“I love my wife to an extent that I would never trade her for anything in this world.

“I was only against her idea to give the title deeds to our son without talking to me.

“We have been together for 30 years and I have never laid my hands on her,” she said.

Presiding over the matter, magistrate Meenal Naratom ordered Spiwe to bring a medical report to prove that she now has a hearing problem.

The matter was postponed to later this month.
