Woman tries to join ZRP with forged ZIMSEC results

An 18-year-old woman from Murisa Park, Unit O, Chitungwiza, has been convicted for forging her Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) Ordinary Level results in a desperate attempt to secure employment with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Shamiso Pretty Bvukure appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of violating the Zimbabwe Examination Act. Her deception was uncovered after the Police General Headquarters recruiting section requested verification of ZIMSEC results for several applicants on October 11, 2024.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that Bvukure had altered key subjects on her results slip. Her Mathematics grade was changed from U to C, English from U to B, Shona from E to A, and History from U to A. Additionally, she added two subjects, Combined Science and Commerce, which were not on her original slip.

Bvukure was swiftly arrested and brought to court, where she was sentenced to 12 months in prison. However, six months of her sentence were suspended for five years.

In another case, a 25-year-old man from Budiriro, Harare, was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing clothes worth US$15. Simbarashe Ruwanda was convicted of unlawful entry into premises with aggravating circumstances.

The court heard that on October 5, 2024, around 5:00 AM, Ruwanda entered the complainant’s home through an unlocked door while the owner was away. He stole a pair of trousers and a shirt. He was seen committing the crime by the complainant’s daughter. The stolen items, worth US$15, were never recovered.

Ruwanda was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with 5 months suspended for 5 years. Additionally, 1 month was suspended on the condition that he return the US$15. He will serve an effective 6 months in jail. (iharare)
