VISUAL artist, Josephine Soko, says she prides herself in empowering women through art.
The artist, who runs her Imani Africanique brand, spoke about how she uses her God-given gift to uplift women.
“One of the greatest gifts a woman can have is the power to use her hands to transform other people’s lives and I am one lucky lady blessed with such a gift through art.
“I believe art has the potential to awaken something within us and open new ways of thinking.
“As modern women, it is important that we connect with our source of strength and for me art is my chosen avenue which I then decided to use to contribute to women empowerment,” she said.
Josephine said she gained inspiration to empower other women from her own life story.
“I lacked confidence while growing up and I got instinctively judged and associated with a lot of bad things until I started seeing my work not only as pieces but also as a tool to contribute to women’s empowerment.
“I began to teach women to be strong and fearless, which then activated their inner heroines, and encouraged them to be bold and make a name for themselves.”
She said female empowerment, through art, helps women remember their strengths.
“With this in mind I am set to explore the world of female empowerment art to the fullest and gear my work towards elevating femininity.
“The passion I hold for art is the catalyst of my creations supporting my journey towards another level,” she said.
