Women’s Parliamentary Caucus chairperson Cde Beatrice Nyamupinga said they were happy with the draft’s provisions.
“We are very happy with the draft constitution. As women of Zimbabwe we have achieved a lot,” she said.
“We wouldn’t have done better than we have done now considering the current constitution did not consider women at all.
“In this draft I think we have achieved 90-95 percent. We couldn’t have achieved 100 percent at once but can now proceed with the agenda in Parliament.”
The Zanu-PF Goromonzi West legislator said the proportional representation would result in more female legislators, guaranteeing gender equality.
