After a two-year time out, the LM Auctioneers Womenas Cup has bounced back amid revelations that this yearas edition will be held on 10 and 11 December in Bulawayo.

a?We thought of bringing back the tournament for the benefit of the girl child. We had our last edition in 2013 and Bulawayo is going to play host to this yearas tournament which has a total budget of $20 000.

a?Itas a way of supporting womenas football. We need to expose talent,a? said LM Auctioneers director and cup sponsor Lewis Muzhara who graced the 2016 Rio Olympic Games that were held in Brazil to support the Mighty Warriors.

The inaugural tournament was held in 2010 and the last winners of the cup contest were Black Rhinos Queens who beat Bulawayoas Inline Academy who were champions in 2011.

Muzhara said they were looking forward to having eight teams compete for the first prize.

a?We are going to feature teams from Botswana; Double Action and Township Rollers. Local teams will include Inline Academy, Hwange Street Set, Black Rhinos, Blue Swallows, Flame Lily and Chipembere. However, we will have others on standby. All participating teams will have LM Auctioneers branded T-Shirts,a? said Muzhara.

Winners of the contest will get $3 000, a floating trophy plus 23 gold medals. The first runners-up will go home with $1 500 and 23 silver medals. The third best club will get 23 bronze medals.

The cup tournament has catered for Mighty Warriors star players that include defender Nobuhle Majika and striker Rudo Neshamba.

Mighty Warriors coach Shadreck Mlauzi, his assistant Sithethelelwe a?Kwinji 15a? Sibanda and ex-Mighty Warriors captain Nomsa a?Boyza? Moyo among other esteemed people involved in womenas football graced the previous editions of the LM Auctioneers Womenas Cup tournament.
