Worked from outside, now looking to get inside

AFTER years of assisting Highlanders from the outside, long term club benefactor, Morgan Gazza Dube feels it’s time to get in and play his part as an executive member in elections scheduled for next year.

Highlanders members will vote for the chairman, secretary-general and committee member at the annual general meeting in the first week of February.

Dube has formally thrown his name into the hat and will go up against incumbent Israel Moyo for the post of secretary general.

A former Zifa Southern Region vice-chairman, Dube says he feels it’s time to build the Highlanders brand from the corridors of power in the executive committee.

“Highlanders by virtue of being a community club has always benefited from the assistance of individuals and groupings and having played my part in that regard for many years, I feel now is the time to be part of the team that takes the Bosso brand to greater heights from the inside as a secretary general.

“I was part of the Victoria Falls supporters chapter that advocated for the continued support of the Highlanders junior structures and we adopted the Under-13s and 15s by supplying the boys with training equipment and playing kits.

As the accounting officer (the Vic Falls supporters chapter chairman) I’m proud to say we played our part in assisting the club,” said Dube.

Dube is a Fifa administration certificate holder, a former player with the now defunct Intundla FC and an ex-coach.

“There is strength in unity and I’m not going into the race for the secretary general post as part of this or that camp; I do not believe in camps because they only serve to divide the Highlanders family,” he said.

Apart from sponsoring the revival of Bosso juniors, Dube has regularly funded the club’s pre-season camps. He also played host to the team every time it played against Hwange at the Colliery Stadium.
