A 38-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing a Chinese national with an okapi knife in Lower Gweru on Tuesday following a labour dispute.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Kholwani Dube in a statement on the incident involving the Chinese national at Bijour Farm in Lower Gweru.
They have also arrested the Chinese national for pointing a firearm at Dube during the melee.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating an assault and pointing of a firearm incident which occurred at Bijour Farm, Lower Gweru, Midlands Province on 21 January 2025.
“Kholwani Dube (38) stabbed a Chinese national with an okapi knife on the leg after a labour dispute while the Chinese national pointed a firearm at Dube. Both the Zimbabwean national and Chinese national are facing criminal charges,” said Comm Nyathi.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Nyathi said one Mthahandazo Sibanda (20) was shot with a 9 mm Derya Pistol by a Chinese national while allegedly stealing gold dump at Binyup 5 Mine, Filabusi on 22 January 2025.
He said police have since arrested the Chinese national.
