GLOBAL humanitarian organisation, World Vision International has appointed Canadian Mr Emmanuel Isch as the new World Vision Zimbabwe national director.
He takes over from Mr Edwards Brown who has been the head of the humanitarian organisation since 1999.
Prior to Mr Isch’s appointment, he was the World Vision Partnership leader: Global Accountability and Integrated Review Group since 2012.
He previously served as senior director in Haiti, vice-president of International and Canadian Programmes for World Vision Canada and Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs Director for World Vision Canada. He has also worked in Sudan. He holds a Degree in Economics and Development, post-graduate qualification in International Development and a Diploma in Theology. He will be the director for five years.
Speaking in Bulawayo last week Mr Isch said: “As the new director I will continue with the work that was being done by Mr Brown and will improve where it is necessary because the organisation’s main vision is to help communities in drought situations and also to educate them on how to keep a healthy environment so as to minimise outbreaks of diseases which are affecting rural areas. As the new national director I am looking forward to build on the existing work and also to train people on good leadership so as to achieve our goals and to save the communities because people need our help.”
World Vision Zimbabwe advocacy and communications officer Mr Tawanda Makawa said the local team was looking forward to working with Mr Isch.
“This is a great opportunity for us at World Vision because most companies are retrenching so when we having a new director it shows that our organisation is growing,” said Mr Makawa.
World Vision has been instrumental in the distribution of food to vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe.
